UAV mission confirmed

'The Air Force plans to send two types of unmanned vehicles to Grand Forks Air Force Base, and pilots from the Fargo Air National Guard base will operate them from the ground, Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said Thursday.

The unmanned aerial vehicles, known as UAVs, are the Global Hawk, which can relay images and sensor information to battlefield commanders, and the Predator, a missile-firing craft that also can be used for reconnaissance and surveillance. Though the planes fly without humans inside, pilots are needed to run them, Conrad said Thursday.'
