'Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems Sector, San Diego, Calif., named at the Australian International Air Show here this week its Australian partners in a bid to win a 1 billon Australian dollar ($792.9 million) contract for maritime patrol unmanned air vehicles (UAVs).
Under Phase 1 of the Royal Australian Air Force’s Project Air 7000, the Department of Defence plans to acquire a squadron of high-altitude, long-endurance UAVs worth as much as 1 billion Australian dollars. The UAVs would enter service by 2009. Tenders may be called for next year.'
