Military aims to spend millions on unmanned attack aircraft


"The Canadian Forces plans to purchase aerial drones capable of directing smart bombs to their targets as well as tracking down insurgents, but the aircraft will be delivered just as the Afghanistan mission officially winds down.

The unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, will be equipped with a laser system to direct precision-guided munitions, dropped by either aircraft or fired by artillery, to targets. The UAVs would also be able to conduct surveillance night or day and detect and track objects as small as a person with a weapon."
