The problem with video searching
Andy Beal notices that Google is violating copyrights by serving pirated material to searchers. He wonders how much longer they can get away with that.
My take is "forever." As long as there is a corrective mechanism to redress complaints, complaints will never get to court.
Meanwhile, as long as search engines strive to index material quickly, content analysis (especially copyright analysis) will come later. (This is what the public prefers - witness the demise of the slow abuilding directories.)
