This news item was an eye-opener for me:
Yahoo Integrates Personal & Social Search with MyWeb 2.0
Here's the gist of the item: "Now you can search both your own personal web and pages saved by members of a trusted community of contacts with Yahoo's just-launched MyWeb 2.0."
Without going into the details, let me jump straight to a risky conclusion: the logical step after search engines have hosted online "communities" for a while is to provide groupware to make those communities more functional (and "stickier").
Do communities produce search engine brand loyalty? Does the time spent online in a community reduce the number of external (to the community) search engines used?
Somebody seems to think the answer to these questions is "yes."
