OK, you have a site and you need keywords, tags, and so on so you can get it listed with the search engines. Here are a couple of suggestions:
- Put yourself in your audiences shoes and search for your competition.
- Take a look at their site and see what they did.
- Make sure you use every resource available within your site; Alt Tags, Title Tags etc.
Now I use 4 keys to using and placing Keywords: prominence, proximity, density and frequency. First we'll deal with Prominence.
To optimize your keywords, place them in the text at the top of each page, with the main page being the most important. Your keywords need to be as close to the start of the page as possible. Also the closer they are to the start of a sentence, the better chances you have. When using keywords in a sentence, please make sure the wording makes sense. While you are at it, the bottom is a good place as any, so don't dismiss that area.
Don't forget your Alt Tags, because if you are using images at the top, either navigation or whatever, and they are the first thing the search engine see's, it would be great if you keywords were there as well.
Next, Proximity
