Density - Part 3

Part 3 in a series of Keyword Tips. We've covered Prominence and Proximity, now Density.

Keyword Density or Keyword Weight, measures the relationship of keywords to other text. The higher the percentage of keywords in relationship to other text, the better.

Here's an example of how it works. Let's use the keyword phrase, "logo design."

Logo Design is our core business.

Since "is", "our," and other stop words are typically not counted, there are three "words" in the sentence: "logo design," "core," and "business." "Logo Design" is 1/3 of the sentence, great density.

Keyword Density rarely is as high as this and is very difficult to accomplish and have your text make sense. Typically I would try to target a density of 3-7%. So your keyword(s) should repeat 3-7 times for every 100 words.

It's not as easy as it sounds, especially if you have a number of keywords. If you have 15 keywords it would be near impossible to repeat each one that many times in 100 words and make any kind of sense. The one post I did about the guy giving away free tips, but in the end was selling software does have really good thoughts. Pick 2 or 3 of your main keywords and focus on them for your text. You'll get better results.
