Crazy talk - or not?
Saw the strangest tip ever from a pornographer on Webmaster World's Google board last week.
I wish I had kept a link to the post.
This poster was soliciting advice on page rank optimization and listing things he was doing to get feedback on them. He was a little concerned that he might be using color too often on keywords to make them jump out at indexing bots. He thought there could be a spamming penalty for this.
Some of you are thinking, "Oh this is backwards, he was hiding keywords by matching type and background colors." No, just the opposite, he was coloring text for spyders. And here's the weirdest part...
It triggered a discussion in the thread about the best color to use to attract Google's 'bots. A number of posters felt red was best.
The number of comments and their seriousness suggested this was no joke.
I have never heard of this technique and suspect it is like the number 11 on the volume dial of Spinal Tap's amps.
