Samsung Camera today unveiled the newest addition to its groundbreaking NV series of advanced point & shoot digital cameras - the NV11. Representing the latest in intelligent camera design, the NV11 is the fourth product from Samsung to carry the NV brand, and it offers the same unique blend of style and technology that has set its predecessors apart from the field. The NV11 features a premium Schneider lens, as well as Samsung's intuitive Smart Touch user interface which enables easy navigation of the camera's comprehensive feature set by simply sliding a finger across its control buttons positioned around the 2.7inch high definition LCD. Discerning photographers and tech enthusiasts will immediately recognize these two features as being among the hallmarks of the NV Series, along with the brushed black, stainless steel body and trademark Samsung blue ring located around the lens barrel.
The 10 mega pixel, 5x optical zoom NV11 has 1600 ISO high-sensitivity and features Samsung's proprietary ASR image stabilisation system which helps to capture the best possible images even in dimly lit conditions. All images captured on the NV11 can be viewed in dramatic clarity on the camera’s 2.7 inch LCD.
The NV11 is also equipped with Samsung's Face Recognition technology, which detects a subject's face, and automatically adjusts auto focus and auto exposure to ensure better composition and image quality in portraits and other shots featuring people. The AF function instantaneously recognises the faces of subjects and accurately focuses on them. The AE function then takes over, setting the appropriate exposure to ensure the highest image quality.
Capturing moving pictures is made simple with the NV11 which is able to take 30 frames per second in TV quality MPEG-4 VGA format for crisper, richer images.
The striking new Samsung NV11 will have an MSRP of $399.99 and will be available in North America in Spring 2007.

Unbeatable has a review of the Samsung NV11 and writes, "Image quality is very good with the lens ensuring that they are focused from corner to corner and detail is brilliant, thanks to the 10.1 MP sensor which also ensures that colour reproduction is very natural and bright. The touch screen interface proves to be very successful and very easy to use which also describes the camera as a whole. Images were good at ISO 100 & 200 but when we assessed the images taken at ISO 800 and higher we found that they had high levels of image noise and were unfortunately unusable. ... The Samsung NV11 has great features and is excellent value for money."
Megapixel has a review of the Samsung NV11 and writes, "This second New Vision Samsung camera is much like the first in some respects, but adds a very good 5X optical zoom, making it more versatile than the NV10. The image quality it offers, when set to the highest (Super Fine) setting, is generally very good. Photographs captured under natural light turn out very well, and it is only under mixed lighting and when the flash is used that the auto white balance can have difficulty. The NV11 is, overall, a good camera that excels in certain areas, and offers an imaginative interface. It would, however, benefit from a less reflective monitor surface."
DCRP reviews the Samsung NV11 and writes - "Samsung's NV11 certainly makes a bold statement when you first pick it up: it sports a stunning industrial design, and has an interface like none you've ever seen (unless, of course, you've used an earlier NV model). It's got a lot going for it, offering full manual controls and plenty of bells and whistles, though image quality could be better. If you can stomach the Smart Touch interface (I cannot), then it's worth taking a look at the NV11. "
CNET reviews the Samsung NV11 and writes - "With some very nice photos and full manual exposure controls, the Samsung NV11 seems like a decent choice for amateur photographers who want to learn the art, or for dSLR owners who want a reasonably compact second camera. The camera doesn't shoot as fast as we would have liked, though, and its Smart Touch control scheme is definitely an acquired taste. Try out this camera for a bit before you commit to it, if only to find out if its touch sensor controls are right for you."
