The Olympus D-580/C-460 Zoom (known by both names depending what part of the globe you're from) is a 4 megapixel 3x optical zoom digital camera. It has a super macro mode, 5 preset scene modes, 1.8inch LCD and should suit most entry level digital camera users.
UK/European Readers buy the Olympus C-460
Steve's Digicams reviews the Olympus D-580 writing - ' the Olympus D-580 zoom offers a good value to families desiring a digicam combining good image quality, useful features, and simplicity. Its uncomplicated automatic features produce properly exposed images, its sharp 3x optical zoom lens offers a versatile range, and its 4-megapixel imager has enough resolution for 11x14-inch prints or cropped prints of smaller size.'
CNET reviews the Olympus D-580 and gives it a rating of 6.2 (fair).
Imaging Resource reviews the Olympus D-580 and writes, 'A compact, 3x optical zoom lens, 3.3-megapixel CCD, hassle-free point-and-shoot operation, and very good picture quality make the D-580 Zoom another excellent consumer digicam from Olympus. The availability of preset Scene modes helps deliver better pictures in common shooting situations, and the handful of exposure options provides some creative control. Image quality is high enough for making sharp 8x10-inch photographic prints or sending lower-resolution email attachments over the Internet. With its user-friendly interface, travel-worthy design, good ease of use, and low cost, the D-580 Zoom is a great entry-level camera with more than entry-level features. This would be a good camera for a family, easy to use but with enough capability to bring back good-looking photos from a wide range of situations.'
