Kyocera Finecam M410R

kyocera_finecam_m410.jpgThe Kyocera Finecam M410R is a 4.0 Megapixel camera with a 10x Optical Zoom which allows users to shoot continuously at 3.3 frames per second with virtually no shutter lag.

Steve's Digicams reviews the Kyocera Finecam M410R and writes - 'The Finecam M410R is Kyocera's most advanced digital camera yet and is designed for those who demand the very best, especially when trying to capture sports or action images. The 4.0 Megapixel digital camera utilizes Kyocera's revolutionary RTUNE image processing for incredibly fast, continuous shooting at 3.3 frames per second. Photographers will love the compact (4.2” W x 2.9” H x 3.4” D) and lightweight M410R with its fast f/2.8 and powerful 10X optical zoom lens, integrated USB 2.0 for fast image transfers and the high-precision color Electronic Viewfinder.'

CNET has a review of the Kyocera Finecam M410R and gives it a rating of 7.6 (good) out of 10.

DCRP has a review of the Kyocera Finecam M410R and writes - 'The Kyocera Finecam M410R is an ultra zoom camera whose biggest claim to fame is its stunning continuous shooting performance, and it lives up to the hype. If the image quality was better then I'd be more enthusiastic about this camera, but unfortunately it was not. Photos were fuzzy and soft and colors were dull in many of my real world test photos. In addition, there was mild vignetting in nearly every picture I took. In addition, there was no noise reduction for long exposures, and redeye was above average. One thing that wasn't a problem was purple fringing.'

DC Mag reviews the Kyocera Finecam M410R and writes - 'To sum up, the Kyocera Finecam M410R is an attractive camera, especially for those who appreciate its potential for rapid image capture and for the quality of the zoom lens. It’s a shame the creative/manual side of the camera’s operation hasn’t been so well thought through. Price-conscious buyers will almost certainly be able to live with these shortcomings.' Rating: 4 stars

NEW KYOCERA FINECAM M410R DIGITAL CAMERA

Designed To Capture All The Action, 4.0 Megapixel Camera Offers High-Powered 10X Optical Zoom and High-Speed Lens

RTUNETM Technology Ensures Unlimited Continuous Shooting at Even In New Auto Focusing Mode

Somerset, NJ - Kyocera Optics, Inc., the imaging industry arm of Kyocera Corporation, announces it’s most advanced RTUNE digital camera yet, the sleek and powerful Kyocera Finecam M410R. Targeted to prosumers who demand the very best, especially when trying to capture sports or action images, this 4.0 Megapixel camera utilizes Kyocera’s revolutionary RTUNE image processing for incredibly fast, continuous shooting at 3.3 frames per second and a brand new Auto Focus (AF) Mode that allows for continuous AF shooting as well. Photo buffs will also love the high-powered 10X optical zoom, the high-speed f/2.8-3.1 lens, integrated USB 2.0 for faster image transfers and a brand new high-precision Electronic Viewfinder (EVF).

Utilizing Kyocera’s RTUNE Image Processing Technology, the M410R offers the world's fastest consecutive shooting of any 4.0 Megapixel digital camera. In combination with virtually non-existent shutter lag time of 0.07 second (*1), it can capture images at an incredible, unlimited 3.3 frames per second! (*2)

The Finecam M410R also offers the option of Continuous Auto Focus shooting at 2 frames per second. Even as the subject moves near or far from the camera, focus is adjusted on every image. Kyocera engineers have achieved a full 2 frames per second with perfect focus in the Finecam M410R. For instance, you can fill a high speed 256MB SD memory card with continuous images and then review the images and select the ones you want to keep. And this all happens at 4 Megapixel resolution of 2272 x 1704, which allows users to create tack sharp 11” x 14” print enlargements. This dynamic feature removes the restrictions imposed by other manufacturer’s camera models. The Finecam M410R sets a new standard for defining focus in action sequences.

The high resolution Kyocera 10X Zoom Lens offers picture details not found in other lens designs. Perfect for capturing fast action images, the long reach of the 10X lens brings distant objects close, isolating the subject from its background. Now, you can capture your subject on the playing field in any sport without the distractions usually found. The focal length range of the lens on the M410 is 5.7~57mm, equivalent to 37~370mm on a 35mm SLR camera. The high-speed f/2.8~3.1 lens ensures fast shutter speeds to freeze action along with the shallow depth that helps isolate the subject. Low light images are easy to capture thanks to the large initial f/stop.

As an important factor for framing pictures, the Finecam M410R is equipped with an Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) with 300,000 high precision pixels for a true representation of your captured image. Now the photographer has the ability to see an accurate color representation with incredible detail of their framed image in “real time”.

Integrated USB 2.0 allows faster-than-ever image and movie transfers between the camera and your PC or printer. This new specification is up to 10 times faster than USB 1.0. The incorporation of "PictBridge" Photo Printing allows direct photo printing right from the camera without using your PC. PictBridge is the new communication standard for sending images direct to your PictBridge capable printer via the USB port. Quantities and sizes are selectable on the camera for transmission to the printer.

The Finecam M410R’s compact size (4.2” W x 2.9” H x 3.4” D) and sophisticated black body are sure to make a fashion statement. A 52mm filter adapter is supplied with the M410 to accommodate tele and wide angle lenses as well as filters attached to the lens. The Finecam M410R also offers a vast array of very flexible functions such as preset scene modes to suit any type of shooting conditions, voice memo feature that makes it possible to record a voice message with an image, and movie mode with sound that can be recorded in VGA at 30 frames/sec. until the memory card is full.

Scene modes provide the perfect solution for any shooting situation. The Finecam M410R’s four scene modes provide automatic settings for shooting four types of scenes: “Portrait”, “Sport”, “Nightscape” and “Night Portrait”. For example, Sport mode automatically combines continuous shooting with Auto Focus to ensure that you never miss any important action moments. It also offers “Single Shooting Auto” and “Continuous Shooting Auto” modes that enables beginners with little knowledge to easily make settings for error-free photos. Each of the settings can be easily selected by using the scene button located on the back of the camera body.

The Finecam M410R enables the user to easily shoot movies with audio at 30 frames/second up to the maximum capacity of the memory card. The recorded file is in AVI format and can be played back easily on the DayFineTM LCD Monitor or a personal computer. (To play back movies on a personal computer, it is necessary to install QuickTimeTM 4.1 or later).

The customized start-up screen allows the Finecam M410R user to select a favorite image as their introduction image. The image appears whenever the Finecam M410R is turned on for a personalized experience.

It is easy to resize captured images with the Finecam M410R down to 320 x 240 or 160 x 120 pixels after being captured. This is the ideal solution for emailing images to family and friends. From the Finecam M410R’s menu selection, you can select from three image resize options: full, one quarter and one sixteenth. The area to be resized can be selected via the selection button. This unique function in combination with a PDA incorporating an SD memory card slot, allows the user to easily create an image size suitable for the PDA’s display.

The Finecam M410R incorporates a 1.5” DayFine LCD Monitor that is easy to see in the brightest of sunlight conditions. In addition to the conventional back light system, DayFine TFT (Thin Film Transistor) technology includes a special optical film and exclusive light transmission circuitry that harnesses the power of the sun by absorbing incoming light and then reflecting the light back through the LCD, adding to the brilliance and contrast of the display.

When it comes to navigating the menus, the Kyocera Finecam M410R makes it easy from setup to capture to playback. To make it intuitive, the camera offers an easy to use Control button that works on the principal of a joystick. Along with the logical screen selections and functions, the Finecam M410R is easy for anyone to use.

To fit every situation five flash modes are available (Auto flash, Red-eye reduction auto flash, Red-eye reduction fill-in flash, Fill-in flash, Flash off), three color modes (Color, sepia, B/W), six white balance modes (Auto, Daylight, Tungsten, Cloudy, Fluorescent, Preset), five sharpness settings (+3, +2, +1, standard, -1), two chroma settings (standard, +, -) and exposure compensation (+2.0EV ~ -2.0EV) is also available.

Additionally, the Finecam M410R is shipped with the highly rated Adobe Photoshop AlbumTM software.

The street price of the Finecam M410R is $499.99.
