The Konica Minolta Dimage A200 is an 8 megapixel 'SLR-type' digital camera that continues the 'A' line of popular for Minolta. It is similar to the Dimage A2 but is a little smaller and sleeker with a flip out rotating LCD. Learn more about the Konica Minolta Dimage A200 from the following Konica Minolta press release.

Megapixel reviews the Konica Minolta Dimage A200 and writes - 'The DiMAGE A200 has a very good ergonomic design, and an excellent in-hand feel. Rubberized sections are used judiciously in the most critical places, around the lens barrel to control the zoom, on the grip and the thumb rest, and very importantly around the exit pupil of the viewfinder which prevents damage to eyeglasses....
the A200 offers much the same image quality as the A2, but at a lower price. In comparison, its drawbacks are limited to an AF that is probably a bit slower at the longer focal lengths, and a lower resolution EVF. What it retains is a superb lens, an Anti-Shake system that works well and allows shooting at speeds that would otherwise cause a blurred image, an 8-megapixel image size, and one of the most comfortable ergonomic designs.'
Imaging Resource reviews the Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 Digital Camera and writes - 'The Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 was easily a Dave's Pick, capitalizing on fast shutter-lag, excellent exposure and creative control options, and an excellent image stabilization system. Though the Konica Minolta A200 is a slightly pared-down version of the A2, I see many of the same excellent features that I praised on the A2, such as fine-tuned creative adjustments for contrast, saturation, and hue; a full range of exposure control modes for any experience level; a high-resolution 8.0-megapixel CCD; and a sharp 7x optical zoom lens. The result is a camera with a really compelling set of features and capabilities, but at a street price fully $150-200 less than that of the A2. You do give up the super-high resolution EVF of the A2, along with a noticeable amount of shooting speed and the top end of the A2's shutter speed range, but the bottom line is that the Konica Minolta A200 is an 8-megapixel, 7x zoom, anti-shake-equipped digital camera that sells for a lot less than any competing model with the same attributes. All in all, a fine digital camera, and another Dave's Pick for Konica Minolta.'
DCRP reviews the Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 and writes - 'The A200 is well put-together, not it's not quite as tank-like as its main competition, the Nikon Coolpix 8800. It's easy to hold, and the controls aren't nearly as intimidating as they were on the A2. I love the manual zoom and focus rings, too. The flip-out LCD is sharp and motion is fluid, and it is visible in low light conditions. The same goes for the electronic viewfinder, but I do miss the high resolution, tiltable screen from the A2. Other nice features on the A200 include its movie mode and support for add-on lenses and an external flash. And finally, the camera supports RAW and RAW+JPEG recording, with very little delay between shots. Konica Minolta includes software that takes full advantage of the RAW format.'
A Digital Eye reviews the Konica-Minolta A200 Digital Camera and writes - 'Aimed at advanced amateurs and photographic enthusiasts, Konica-Minolta DiMAGE A200 offers an attractive combination of features at an attractive price. Incorporating Anti-Shake mechanism, a 7x optical manual zoom lens, full manual controls, and a flexible LCD screen, A200 is an extremely versatile camera that delivers extremely high image quality. It has some regrets here and there but overall it's a package hard to beat.'
DP Review has a good review of the Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 and writes - 'The DiMAGE A200 takes much of what is appealing about the A2 and repackages it in a more affordable, friendlier and slightly more compact format. There's much to like here - the useful 28-200mm zoom range, the superb mechanical zoom, the wealth of photographic feature, the effective Anti-Shake system and the excellent handling, all at a much more attractive price point than the A2. The obvious conclusion to be drawn from the launch of this camera is that a major upgrade to the A2 must be waiting in the wings - I think this will be the last time we see this lens (originally used around four years ago in the DiMAGE 7) used on a high-end Konica Minolta camera; it simply can't cut the mustard with today's high resolution sensors and high consumer expectations.'

KONICA MINOLTA ADDS TO THE AWARD-WINNING LINE OF DiMAGE A DIGITAL CAMERAS
The new high performance 8.0 megapixel SLR-Type DiMAGE A200 provides superb image quality and features Konica Minoltas Anti-Shake Technology, unique new Vari-Angle LCD monitor, and built-in 7x optical zoom lens
Mahwah, NJ (September 15, 2004) Konica Minolta Photo Imaging U.S.A., Inc. introduces today the new DiMAGE A200 8.0-megapixel Single Lens Reflex (SLR)-type high-performance digital camera that is perfect for all levels of photographic experience from advanced amateur to creative beginner. Equipped with Konica Minoltas Anti-Shake technology featuring a unique CCD-shift mechanism that offsets handheld shaking, it is easy to capture sharp images with the DiMAGE A200, even in low lighting and without the use of a tripod.
In addition, the cameras rotating 1.8-inch TFT Vari-angle LCD monitor allows photographers to get a clear viewpoint for shooting artistic angles or taking flawless self-portraits. And, the Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200s simplified operation means that all photographers can benefit from its advanced specifications, thus maximizing their photography experience.
The new DiMAGE A200 digital camera is designed to meet the needs of even the most discriminating photographers, said Todd Schrader, vice president of marketing for Konica Minolta Photo Imaging U.S.A., Inc. Thanks to the built-in Anti-Shake technology and other innovations, this versatile new model allows even novice photographers to transform ordinary snapshots into professional looking photographs that theyll treasure for years.
The cameras 2/3-inch CCD with 8.0 million effective pixels and the high-performance Konica Minolta GT APO lens combine to produce incredibly faithful smooth-toned colors. With its proprietary new advanced LSI engine and CxProcess III image-processing technology, the DiMAGE A200 provides high-speed and stress-free image processing with low power consumption. And, its ability to suppress noise and provide exceptionally accurate color reproduction means that users get high-quality images every time.
And, thanks to Konica Minoltas proprietary Anti-Shake technology that employs a unique CCD-shift mechanism, even entry-level photographers can avoid blurry pictures. This internal stabilizing system is connected directly to a CCD sensor that quickly responds to camera shake, thus rendering sharper images in dim lighting as well as hand-held telephoto shots. Especially helpful when using the 4x digital zoom (28 to 800mm) and high-performance built-in 7x optical zoom (28 to 200mm) for landscapes, close-ups, and at sporting events, the DiMAGE A200s Anti-Shake technology is activated with the simple touch of a button. Combined with its three focusing areas wide focus area, 11-point selectable AF area, and flex focus point the DiMAGE A200 ensures that photographic subjects are always in perfect focus.
The cameras newly employed vari-angle, TFT color LCD monitor can be rotated up to 270 vertically and 180 horizontally, allowing photographers unrestricted shooting at high and low angles. The included multi-functional wireless remote control makes it easier to take self-portraits and movies whenever and wherever. And, because the LCD provides high-speed, real-time viewing at 60 frames per second, there is minimal lag time between the on-screen display of moving images and the press of the shutter release, so theres no need to worry about missing a photo opportunity.
The new DiMAGE A200 enables users to record movies in VGA mode (640 x 480 pixels at 30 frames per second) for smooth, true-color playback that rivals TV quality, and SVGA mode (800 x 600 pixels at 15 frames per second), which is ideal for viewing movies or movie stills on large PC screens. This gives users the freedom to choose the screen size and frame rate that suits their needs. Recording high-quality movies is even easier when the cameras Anti-Shake technology is enabled to minimize image blurring.
