Digital Camera Reviews and Ratings By manufacturer:
Canon | Casio | Fuji | HP | Kodak | Minolta | Nikon | Olympus | Panasonic | Pentax | Samsung | Sony | Misc. | Accessories | Lenses
Megapixel reviews the HP Photosmart R607 and writes - 'The Hewlett-Packard Photosmart R607 is designed to be an easy to use camera. This bias is reflected in every aspect of the camera: by default, it is designed to reset itself to everyday settings whenever it is turned off, preventing the forgetful or occasional user from accidentally ruining their shot. Similarly, the R607 is equipped with a huge library of built-in help that can assist a novice with every aspect of the camera, or its functions, or even with basic photographic concepts.'
Cameratown Reviews the HP R607 digital camera and writes - 'The HP Photosmart R607 is certainly quite an impressive little number, especially for a camera of its class – lots of great features with just about everything you can imagine, on-camera advice and guidelines, and all packed in to one small-but-mighty unit. Although, I did discover one thing in particular that I would like to see revised in a future generation. While in video mode, one of the first things that jumped out at me was the obvious hissing over the captured audio clip, heard not only in playback mode when previewed on the camera’s LCD but also during video review after download to my computer. However, I wouldn’t hold that against the R607. Hp has definitely packed a lot into one pocket-sized camera, while providing on-camera instruction and ease-of-use. I definitely enjoyed it.'
CNET has posted a review of the HP PhotoSmart R607 where they give it a rating of 6.5 (Good) out of 10. They write - 'The HP Photosmart R607 is a competent enough entry in the 4-megapixel compact camera arena, with acceptable image quality, a speedy burst mode, and a 3X Pentax zoom lens. It's seasoned with enough quirky features to please the most gizmo-crazy budding photographer. Some of the options in this camera's cornucopia are only marginally useful in practice--the Aperture-Priority mode lets you select from just two apertures, for example. But others, such as Adaptive Lighting, which brightens dark shadows, and the Image Advice feature that diagnoses your pictures and offers fixes for common problems, are especially valuable for neophytes. However, a skimpy complement of scene modes, a 1.5-inch LCD that's too small for comfortable viewing, and a minimovie mode that really is mini at 288x216 pixels are the chief drawbacks to this otherwise capable and fun-to-use package.'
UK/European Readers buy the HP Photosmart R607
Its durable metal design and easy-to-use buttons, coupled with a unique, ergonomic grip, feels great and keeps the camera steady for quick, one-handed shots.
HP Real Life technologies
HP Real Life technologies help take the guesswork out of digital photography. These technologies, developed in HP Labs, make it easy to produce great photos that are crisp, realistic and true-to-life. HP Real Life technologies include Adaptive Lighting technology that adjusts high-contrast photos, helping bring faces out of shadows and details out of backgrounds; in-camera red-eye removal to remove the red-eye while images are still in the camera; in-camera panorama preview allowing the user to view a stitched image on the camera before loading to a computer; and HP Image Advice provides tips on how to improve a specific photo the next time it is taken.
HP Instant Share
HP Instant Share makes sharing, printing and saving digital photos easy. Users simply take a photo and select a destination on the back of the camera - up to 34, including email addresses, online albums and printers Ð by simply pushing a button. When the digital camera is later connected to a computer either directly or via the optional camera dock, the selected photos are automatically sent to the pre-selected destination without burdening the recipient with large file attachments. E-mail recipients see thumbnails of the images in the body of the e-mail message, as well as a link to the web page where they can easily view, print, save and upload the photos to online albums.
