CASIO's EXILIM CARD Boasts Advanced Movie Recording Capability
New Digital Camera Reduces Camera Shake in Movies, Takes Quality Photos
CASIO Europe GmbH, in conjunction with its parent company CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. announced the release of the latest addition to its EXILIM digital camera series with the CASIO EXILIM CARD EX-S600, the next evolution in this popular line of ultra-slim card-sized high resolution digital cameras. In addition to 6 mega pixel photos, a major addition to this line is the EX-S600's ability to reduce camera shake instantaneously when recording quality MPEG-4 movies.
The EX-S600's ability to take state-of-the-art movies instantly and easily adds to the versatility and fun of this powerful and high quality digital camera. The EX-S600 fits conveniently in any pocket to go where ever you go, ready to quickly capture special moments. No matter how spontaneous the situation, the EXILIM engine's Anti Shake DSP reduces blurring caused by shaky hands and/or moving subjects, and the Auto Macro and Quick Shutter functions ensure that photos are properly focused.
In addition to enhanced resolution, the EX-S600's 3X zoom and increased battery life allowing up to 300 shots per battery charge provide significant photographic flexibility. The BEST SHOT menu includes the new Revive Shot, created specifically for taking digital pictures of old album photos. Revive Shot adjusts for obliquity as well as brightly refreshes faded colors. Whether framing a shot, reviewing images, or watching movies, everything is brighter when displayed on the adjustable 2.2 inch LCD-approximately twice as bright as previous models, making it ideal for outdoor use. Small enough to conveniently carry wherever you go, the EX-S600 has one-touch buttons that allow quick start up of the camera to view images and take pictures, as well as one for taking movies, all designed to quickly capture special moments. The EX-S600 connects easily to a TV or PC via the multi cradle, which also doubles as the battery charger.
The EX-S600 continues the EXILIM CARD tradition of offering cutting-edge technology packed into a small, slim, and stylish body. With high quality photos, advanced movie recording capabilities, and a tremendous range of remarkable functions, CASIO once again exceeds expectations by providing a conveniently portable means of preserving memories to be cherished for a lifetime.

Digital Camera Info reviews the Casio Exilim EX-S600 and writes - 'The EX-S600 isn't our style. It's very small and the design is bold, but the sad fact is that these are the most appealing things about the camera, and they won't help anyone take pictures. We appreciate that the camera is made of metal, but that's only a good start at making a durable imager. A camera is only as tough as its most vulnerable part, and the EX-S600'slens assembly and unsealed battery and memory compartment are pretty vulnerable. If the color and size were wrapped around a good imaging system, if the camera were tough enough to go where it can fit, and if it were easy to hold securely, we'd be enthusiastic. As it stands, there is clearly a market for tiny cameras; however, they generally come with some compromises. Unfortunately, for the S600, one of them is image quality.'
DPexpert reviews the Casio EXILIM EXS600 digital camera where they write - 'The Casio Exilim EXs600 is an attractive little camera, ideally suited to taking to a party in a pocket or bag. The Wow factor is high. That so much can be crammed into such a small volume is astonishing. But for anyone with big fingers or ambitions to be the antipodean Ansel Adams this is not the camera. There are slightly larger Casio cameras with excellent optical viewfinders and the EXS600 is expensive for what you get. Compare before buying.'
CNET reviews the Casio Exilim EX-S600 where they give it a rating of 'good' (6.4 out of 10) and write - 'The Casio Exilim EX-S600, a versatile 6-megapixel ultracompact, puts the brains back into no-brainer snapshooting. With 35 scene modes that cover every picture-taking situation--including a few you probably never thought of--plus the ability to add 999 user-definable scenes of your own, this camera is reasonably prepared for just about anything you can throw at it. That includes low-light scenes tamed by antishake technology and automatic ISO sensitivity up to ISO 1,600, an instant picture mode for snapshots with virtually no shutter lag, and stellar motion-picture-capture capabilities. Unfortunately, those assets are outweighed by its limited 3X zoom range and mediocre photo quality. Still, it may be just the ticket for snapshooters looking for a friendly, stylish camera.'
PCWorld post a review of the Casio Exilim EX-S600 which they give a rating of 76 out of 100 ('good') and write - 'In general, the camera is small, light, and pretty easy to handle, but those with big hands might find its thin profile a bit uncomfortable. With the zoom control situated on the back, gripping the camera can be a little difficult, as it's hard to hold the camera and adjust the zoom. All of the other controls are accessible through buttons on the back, too. Since there's no control dial, however, you end up pushing buttons a lot to reach some features and settings. No controls, except the shutter button, sit on the top of the camera....With its fairly good image quality and compact design, the EX-S600 would be a good choice for people who need a camera they can grab and take on the run.'
Steves Digicams reviews the Casio Exilim EX-S600 and writes - 'The EX-S600's shooting performance is quite good. Power up to first image captured measured approx. 1.6 seconds. Shutter lag, the time from depressing the shutter release and capturing the image, was instantaneous when pre-focused, and about 1/10 of a second when pre-focused. Rapid shooting in single drive mode captured images at intervals of 1.3 seconds without flash, and between 2.7 and 4 seconds with flash, depending on your subject distance. You must wait for the flash to recharge, as indicated by the Operation Lamp, before depressing the shutter button for the next shot. Using its continuous capture or burst mode allowed me to capture 5 images in about 5 seconds, a frame rate of 1fps or less; the LCD viewfinder briefly displayed the live image between exposures, helping you follow a moving subject. All tests were done using a Sandisk Extreme III 1GB SD card, Auto recording mode, 6M Fine size/quality, preview off, flash off, and all other settings at default (unless noted otherwise.) Times may vary depending on lighting conditions, camera settings, media, etc.'
ePhotozine reviews the Casio Exilim EX-S600 and writes - 'The diminutive proportions of the Casio Exilim EX-S600 make this very appealling as a camera to just slip into your pocket, and logic dictates that photographers looking for this kind of camera wouldn't appreciate the inclusion of advanced photographic features. 'Best Shot' scene modes, are provided to offer some control over exposure and white balance, but that's about it. The LCD screen isn't the clearest around, but it does the job and the same can be said about the image quality, not startling, but acceptable.'
Imaging Resource reviews the Casio EXILIM CARD EX-S600 and writes - 'Image quality in ultraslim models has been notoriously hit or miss, pictures I captured with the Casio EX-S600 were somewhere in the middle for the category. Good up to 8x10, but soft beyond, sharpness at low ISO was about average with pleasing color. Dynamic range suffered, however, as did detail as the Casio EX-S600 struggled to overcome noise even at the lowest ISO setting. Typical of super-small cameras, corners of images were a bit soft and there was some purple fringing in areas of extreme contrast. Similarly, the Casio EX-S600's low-light shooting capability was limited and the camera's ISO 800 and 1,600 (only available in Anti-Shake and High Sensitivity modes) was too noisy to create good prints. Though I liked how easy it was to operate the camera's movie mode, because it uses the PC-friendly DivX file format I was not able to get video clips to play back on my MacBook despite downloading additional software.'
