Epson P-4000 Photo Viewer News Release

The Epson(R) P-4000 Multimedia Storage Viewer Offers 80GB Hard Drive for Storing, Sharing and Viewing Thousands of Photos Latest Multimedia Storage Viewer from Epson Provides High Capacity Hard Drive and Beautiful 3.8" LCD with Epson Photo Fine(TM) Technology for Brilliant Color and Incredible Detail Epson is introducing its newest product in the Multimedia Storage Viewer category, the Epson P-4000. Epson is continuing to develop products that meet the changing needs of today's digital photographer. The Epson P-4000 Multimedia Storage Viewer has many of the same features and strengths of the popular Epson P-2000, but now offers double the hard drive capacity with 80GB* for storing and sharing an even larger number of photos along with video and music files. The Epson P-4000 is the perfect portable companion to any digital camera with its built-in card slots, high storage capacity and Epson's exclusive and highly-regarded large 3.8" LCD with Epson Photo Fine technology for the ultimate in color, detail and clarity. "There are many products available today for storing and viewing files and images, but there is no comparison when it comes to the quality and clarity of the Epson P-4000's screen," said Jennifer Burl, product manager, Epson. "With Epson Photo Fine technology, fast downloads and an even larger storage capacity, this handheld product offers the ultimate in portable freedom for photographers, professionals, photo enthusiasts, and families alike. The P-4000 enables anyone to share photos without the worry of storage limitations or sacrifices to viewing quality, whether at home, at work, on vacation, or in the field." More about Epson Photo Fine Technology The Epson P-4000 and the Epson P-2000 both offer Epson's exclusive Photo Fine technology, which utilizes two core techniques-ultra fine precision processing and the capability to deliver three colors (red, green and blue) per pixel. Additionally, this unique technology provides an incredible pixel density of 212 pixels per inch, which ensures that every detail of downloaded images is displayed with vibrancy and clarity. Typical digital camera viewing panels and competitive viewer products only offer one color per pixel and approximately 80-100 pixels per inch. Engineered with precision manufacturing, Epson Photo Fine enables the LCD to display images with brilliant color and exquisite detail for remarkable image quality. This level of detail is vital for customers who want to zoom in, inspect and view photos more closely. More about the Epson P-4000 Multimedia Storage Viewer The Epson P-4000 is the third Multimedia Storage Viewing product introduction from Epson and addresses the customer's need for increased storage capacity. It is equipped with an 80GB hard drive for storing over 75,000 images, over 25,000 songs or about 90 to 300 hours of video.** It supports JPEG image files as well as RAW files (on select digital SLR cameras), MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG video files and MP3 and AAC audio files. This product is also designed with a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface for easily and quickly transferring these files to and from a computer. With its large storage capacity, the customer can copy files to the Epson P-4000 from the memory card and clear the memory card immediately to begin taking more pictures. When all of the images have been downloaded to the multimedia storage viewer from the memory card, the viewer can then be connected to a computer to back up the images to ensure they are saved. With its built-in memory card slots, the Epson P-4000 is compatible with most digital camera memory types. It offers native support for CompactFlash Type I and II and Secure Digital memory cards and supports additional cards with an optional third-party adapter (sold separately). Organizing and Sharing Files with the Epson P-4000 The Epson P-4000 features an intuitive menu that makes it simple to create albums to categorize and group files, so they can be quickly accessed and viewed. Customers can also create a slideshow set to music for a fun and creative way to view and share images. For sharing images on an even bigger screen, the P-4000 Multimedia Storage Viewer has a video interface-NTSC or PAL-that can connect directly to a television, monitor or projector with an optional third party video cable. The Epson P-4000 is both Windows(R) and Macintosh(R) compatible and is also equipped with the ability to print directly to select Epson printers. Batteries and Accessories This product is a lightweight, battery-powered device that is easy to travel with and comes with one lithium ion battery and charger/AC adapter, which when fully charged will support about three hours of continuous slide show viewing, or over two hours of continuous downloading from a memory card. Also included is a Hi-Speed USB 2.0/1.1 cable, a stand for either viewing slideshows with others or simply just keeping the unit securely in place, a carrying case for added protection, and a wrist strap. Pricing and Availability The Epson P-4000 is currently available through authorized dealers, mail order, photo specialty stores, select retail outlets, distribution, select retail Web sites and on the Epson retail Web site (www.epsonstore.com) for a price of $699. The product carries a one-year limited warranty and is supported by the EPSON Connection(SM), a customer support and technical assistance line.
