Beijing did a lot to improve the air quality leading up to the Beijing Olympics, with mixed results. The days before the opening ceremony were pretty bad, but a burst of rain cleared the air and pollution became less of a talking point. Beijing recorded 6.52 million visitors for the 2008 Olympics, with 382,000 of those coming from overseas. Authorities long estimated that 500,000 foreigners would visit the city, but tougher visa controls reduced that number. The closing ceremony has gotten under away. The introduction was interesting, perhaps people will say it is a little “North Korean’esque”. The athletes are entering the stadium and I can only imagine the thrill it must be to be able to walk into the stadium at the end of the games. [...]

Every good Olympic Games need some good mascots and the Athens Games is no different.
Athena and Phevos are the Athens Olympic Mascots which will adorn Olympics Merchandise like Athena and Phevos T-Shirts, Athena and Phevos Olympic Pins, Athena and Phevos Coffee Mugs and a variety of other merchandise.
Athena is the protectress of Athens and the goddess of wisdom.
Phevos is the Greek god of light and music.
Athena and Phevos are pictured left. They are sure to cause a bit of a stir - some commentators are already calling for a redesign saying that they are the most 'ungodly gods' they've ever seen.
I'm sure Athena and Phevos will be popular with kids - I can just picture them as little soft cuddly toys.
I think that Athena and phevos are great mascots. They are fun-loving little characters. They are modeled after an ancient Greek doll; the yellow-orange that Athena wears reflects the Greek sun. The blue that Phevos wears can be compared to the beautiful Aegean sea and the Greek sky. They are brother and sister and stand for the brotherhood that the Olympic games promote.
As someone said, "Phevos and Athena are here to remind us that the Olympic games are for fun, unity and peace". I agree.
these mascots are so cool, I am looking forward to see them at the olympics, But i really want to no who made the up
There's an off-the-shelf fix for the Olympic mascot mess. Get rid of Athena & Phevos, and get Mr. Six in there ASAP!

They suppose to look like goddess and not geeeks. They need improvement alot and hope that the 2008 olympics mascots in China, would not look like geeks but they have technology and education and think that they can come up with better ideas. BUT ATHENA AND PHEVOS REALLY LOOKED AWESOME. THEY R CUTE.

I think that the mascots are great they are cute and there different that is whats sooo great about them i think we should keep. and anyway they are from the ancient times that why there so speacial about them. i am also greek so i am really into this history so i say
