The closing ceremony has gotten under away. The introduction was interesting, perhaps people will say it is a little “North Korean’esque”. The athletes are entering the stadium and I can only imagine the thrill it must be to be able to walk into the stadium at the end of the games. [...]

France has won the gold medal in men’s handball, defeating Iceland in the final. Spain beat Croatia for the bronze medal.

The United States ‘redeem team’ have certainly redeemed themselves at the Beijing Olympics, not losing a single game and defeating Spain 118-107 in the final to win the gold medal. The bronze medal was won by Argentina, who defeated Lithuania 87-75.

Hungary has defeated the United States to win the gold medal in men’s water polo. Serbia beat Montenegro 6-4 to win the bronze medal.

Roberto Cammarelle from Italy has defeated China’s Zhilei Zhang to win the gold medal in boxing’s super heavy weight division. David Price from Great Britain and Vyacheslav Glazkov of Ukraine won bronze medals.

Kazakhstan’s Bakhyt Sarsekbayev has defeated Carlos Banteaux Suarez from Cuba to win the gold medal in boxing welter-weight division. Jungjoo Kim from South Korea and Silamu Hanati from China have won bronze medals.

China’s Zhang Xiaoping has won the country’s second-ever gold medal in boxing in the light-heavyweight division, defeating Kenny Egan of Ireland 11-7. Yerkebulan Shynaliyev from Kazakhstan and Tony Jeffries from Great Britain won bronze medals.

Alexey Tishchenko of Russia has beat Daouda Sow of France 11-9, to win the gold medal in the boxing lightweight division (60kg). Yordenis Ugas from Cuba and Hrachik Javakhyan of Armenia won bronze medals.

"The Hungarian hammer thrower who was stripped of his gold medal after refusing to take a follow-up drug test at the Athens Olympics said Tuesday he still considers himself the champion and vowed to keep his medal.
Adrian Annus also reiterated his decision to retire rather than deal with what he called a campaign to manipulate test results against him.
"Hammer throwing was my life and this wasn't the way I planned to bid farewell to the sport," Annus told the state-run news wire MTI. "I only want my family and I to be left alone.""
