Toshiba's Mobile-Phone Technology Brings Product Reviews to Camera Phones
According to a Yahoo News article, Toshiba Corp. has developed a mobile-phone technology which will search for product reviews on blogs. Users take a photo of a product's barcode, and the technology then figures out if product reviews on blogs are positive or negative, tallying up a count that shows if a product is loved by bloggers or not.
The bar-code information is sent wirelessly to a Toshiba server, which gathers data on blogs from the Internet and analyzes them, and then sends a reply back to the cell phone.
Toshiba hopes to have the technology ready for cell phones by April 2007.
