Wondering whether smartphones, with all their possibilities, will take off anytime soon and approach the popularity of regular camera phones?

FinancialExpress tackles this question and concludes, "Smartphones are definitely here to stay. However, the adoption of smartphones will only increase with the development of better security such as biometric encryption, faster and more intelligent wireless connectivity and more power efficient displays in new shapes and sizes. Additional technology innovations will include the use of smaller sized high capacity memory cards, low-power hard disks or flash memory and more software applications that emulate hardware based functionality, which enable communication with different wireless devices with just a software reconfiguration. Until then, I am not completely convinced that smartphones will become the single device of choice for all convergence requirements."
