Sanyo Katana LX Reviews

CNET reviews the Sanyo Katana LX and writes, "The Katana LX only comes with a VGA camera, which is understandable for a phone at this price range. You can take pictures in three resolutions (640x480, 320x240, and 160x120), three quality settings, and five picture modes (Normal, Beach/Snow, Scenery, Night/Dark, Soft Focus). Other settings include brightness, white balance, a self-timer, multishot, fun frames, color tone, zoom, and shutter sounds (three sounds plus a silent option). Photo quality was pretty disappointing, as to be expected. Images looked blurry and overcast. There's no built-in camcorder."

Phonemag reviews the Sanyo Katana LX and writes, "Sadly, that new OLED display is one of the few improvements from the previous model. If the Katana II was a basic phone raised by virtue of its appearance, then the LX is a disappointingly mediocre one hoping its looks will blind buyers to its shortcomings. Yes, there’s GPS and tagless voice-dialling (the latter another of the rare new features), but the camera is still the same VGA unit that, at a time when 2-megapixels seems lacking, is hopelessly outclassed."

MobileTechReview has a review of the Sanyo Katana LX and writes, "Like the Katana II, the Katana LX has a VGA camera with digital zoom and can take photos but not videos. VGA camera phones are really outdated in a market that’s crowded with 1.3 megapixel and 2 megapixel feature phones. Even though the photo quality on the Katana LX is better than that of VGA camera phones from 2-3 years ago, the images lack in detail and color. Indoor shots look hazy and outdoor shots look murky. Colors don’t look bright or saturated and the overall colors look a little too cool. The Katana LX offers brightness and color tone settings, a self-timer, multi-shot mode and fun frames. Since there is no expansion card slot, you can send the photos to other phones via Sprint Picture Mail or email them."
