Telecoms Korea point to an announcement by Samsung of a new Symbian OS phone the Samsung SGH-D720

'Before, Samsung introduced SGH-D710, the first ever Symbian OS smartphone at CommunicAsia 2004 held in June last year. However, the model has never been released in the market. Therefore, SGH-D720 is virtually the first Symbian O/S phone for Samsung.

The SGH-D720, a slide up phone with intenna, features 1Mpixel camera and supports Bluetooth and MPEG4 files and MP3.'

infoSync World previews the Samsung SGH-D720 and writes - 'Unlike previously announced Series 60 smartphones, the SGH-D720 doesn't look to be ahead of the pack - in fact, depending on whether it gets released soon, it's just barely on par with other handsets on the market. Tri-band GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 MHz is adequate, as is the inclusion of a 1 Megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom. Similarly, the ability to also record video messages is nothing new, nor is MMS or the RealOne player which offers MP3 and RealAudio/RealVideo playback.'
