“Qool Labs, an Asian company focusing on digital lifestyle products, today announced its first Palm Powered smartphone, the Qool QDA-700. This is also the first time a Palm OS smartphone with a 1.3-megapixel camera has been announced.

Qool QDA-700 Reviews

BargainPDA reviews the Qool QDA-700, and had this to say about the phone's camera: "the camera wasn't half bad. Using the camera button (on the left side), I was able to launch the camera application. The major gripe there being that you have to have the flip open to use the viewfinder and configure the settings to take the picture. The camera takes pictures at .1 megapixel (320x240 pixels with 1x, 2x, and 4x zoom), .3 megapixel (640x480 pixels with 1x,2x, and 4x zoom), 1.3 megapixel (1280x960 pixels with 1x, 2x, and 4x zoom), and an interpolated 5 megapixel shot (2560x1920 pixels with no zoom levels). Needless to say, you can get any kind of shot that you want to as long as there is good light. Though, even in low light settings, the night mode isn't too bad either, though the pictures will show a lot of noise."

The QDA-700 will run the Palm OS Garnet operating system. It will be a tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) smartphone targeting the Asian and European consumer market.

This device will come with plenty of multimedia features, including a 1.3-megapixel camera, a 2.8-inch color display, support for WAV/MP3/MIDI ringtones, MP3 player, and MPEG4 video capture and playback capabilities.

In addition, the QDA-700 will be bundled with productivity applications such as DocumentsToGo and PalmSource Mail, designed to appeal to ”prosumer“ and business customers.”
