Nokia 6500 Slide

Nokia 6500 slideNokia 6500 slide Press Release

Featuring an enthusiast-quality 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and the ability to easily share pictures, videos and even video calls on a television, the Nokia 6500 slide brings unsurpassed levels of imaging and sharing to the mid-range market. Additionally, the Nokia 6500 slide delivers a refined tactile experience with its elegant brushed stainless steel finish and smooth slide mechanism.

The 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics found in the Nokia 6500 slide marks the first time that mid-range camera phone consumers have been able to experience the outstanding imaging capability of Carl Zeiss optics. The addition of autofocus, a dual LED flash and 8x digital zoom optimizes the Nokia 6500 slide for creating high-caliber images. Using the speed of 3G technology, these images and videos can be quickly shared with friends around the world, while the TV-out jack allows them to be instantly viewed on any television with standard RCA inputs. The TV-out feature can also be used to allow an entire group of people to simultaneously enjoy the fun of video calling.

Fashioned to stand apart from the crowd, the Nokia 6500 slide incorporates a number of design elements not often found in a mid-range device. Ensuring that the sophisticated brushed stainless steel body retains its timeless beauty, a unique hard coating helps to prevent scuffs, scratches, and even fingerprints. Precision engineering of the slide mechanism means that the Nokia 6500 slide feels solid in the hand, yet moves with a smooth, fluid action to create a decidedly upscale user impression.

The Nokia 6500 slide is expected to be available during the 3rd quarter of 2007 at an estimated retail price of €370 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia 6500 Slide Reviews

MobileBurn reviews the Nokia 6500 Slide and writes, "The camera on the Nokia 6500 Slide is equipped with a dual-LED flash and a Carl Zeiss auto-focus lens system. While it is capable of shooting some very nice photos, the combination of a somewhat optimistic auto-focus system and a clunky shutter button lead to far more out of focus images than one would expect. Users will have to make sure that the phone has focus before pressing the shutter button fully, and will have to take care not to jar the phone too much when doing so. This is not always easy. And while the 6500 Slide can record VGA (640x480 pixel) resolution video, the auto-focus system is disabled during recording, which renders it mostly useless."

HardwareZone reviews the Nokia 6500 Slide and writes, "One of the main highlights of the Nokia 6500 slide is its 3.2-megapixel camera sporting Carl Zeiss optics. The camera also features autofocus capabilities complete with a dual-LED flash system that makes this basic Nokia model quite a powerful camera phone for its range. Added functionalities also includes support for 3G video calls and direct connection to Flickr for quick photo sharing."

3G reviews the Nokia 6500 Slide and writes, "Although megapixels do matter, if you’re planning to print large photos, any photography expert will tell you that the lens matters more. Fortunately, the 6500 Slide ticks both boxes, with a 3.2-megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics. And, while the 8x digital zoom is a red herring (it’s optical zoom we want), auto-focus and dual LED flash are welcome features."

CNET UK reviews the Nokia 6500 Slide and writes, "As this is a 3G handset, it has twin cameras for video calling. The one on the rear is actually very impressive. Not only does it have a 3.2-megapixel resolution, but it's also got autofocus and a Carl Zeiss lens. The shots it takes are a serious step above the usual camera phone fodder and good enough to print at standard photo size. However, they're not quite as sharp or detailed as the photos you'll get using some of Nokia's N-series phones."

Pocket-lint reviews the Nokia 6500 Slide and writes, "The bulkier phone (96.5 x 46.5 x 16.4mm) takes in the larger size not only so it can offer a slider design, but so it can fit in a 3 megapixel camera complete with Carl Zeiss optics, an auto focus and 8x digital zoom...But that's not all you'll get, for that extra bulk you also get a video camera for video calling via the 3G connectivity on the phone and a TV out socket you can you share you images, music and video via a nearby TV similar to some of the Samsung mobile phones."
