Nokia 6500 Classic
Nokia 6500 classic Press Release
Instantly recognizable by its seamless case crafted from 360 degrees of anodized aluminum, the Nokia 6500 classic is a 9.5mm thin statement of unsurpassed attention to detail. As an expression of individuality, each Nokia 6500 classic is individually polished, ensuring that no two phones are exactly alike, while diamond polishing used on the beveled display aperture and cold stamped logo demonstrate the highest levels of craftsmanship.
However, the attention to detail found in the Nokia 6500 classic is much more than skin deep. Featuring dual band 3G technology for fast and easy downloads and browsing and quad-band GSM for worldwide roaming, the Nokia 6500 classic delivers state-of-the-art connectivity options for the most demanding of customers. A full 1 GB of internal memory means that the Nokia 6500 classic has capacity for far more pictures, videos, contacts, songs, messages and other content than the vast majority of other mid-tier mobile phones.
Nokia's dedication to usability is also evident in the Nokia 6500 classic. The Nokia Series 40 interface, familiar to millions of users around the globe, provides easy access to the powerful feature set, including a 2 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and an integrated music player. Furthermore, a unified micro-USB connector simplifies charging, audio and data connectivity by consolidating them into a single compact port. This allows for the Nokia 6500 classic to be easily used as a high-capacity flash drive or to be charged directly from a laptop computer - all with one cable.
The Nokia 6500 classic is expected to be available during the 3rd quarter of 2007 at an estimated retail price of 320 before taxes and subsidies.
Nokia 6500 Classic Reviews
MobileBurn reviews the Nokia 6500 Classic and writes, "The camera on the Nokia 6500 Classic is equipped with a LED flash. Its lens has a fixed focal point that seems to be tailored towards portraits and other subjects that are relatively close to the camera. The automatic white balance system performs well outdoors, but often seems to tend towards a cooler look when used indoors. The camera is capable of shooting some half-decent photos in decent light, but performs quite poorly in dim situations in spite of its flash and night mode setting. I was unable to test video recording on the 6500 Classic because the early firmware on our 6500 Classic consistently crashed when we initiated recording. I fully expect that this will not be the case in production devices."
CNET Australia reviews the Nokia 6500 Classic and writes, "The 6500 classic features a 2-megapixel camera with no memory expansion slot. What you get instead is 1GB of onboard memory which will probably suffice for storing over 1,000 snapshots or a decent 250-song (4MB each) music collection...Aside from not having a memory card slot, one of the gripes we have with the 6500 classic is the lack of a front-facing camera. As we don't as yet have an actual review unit, we're not sure if the main 2-megapixel camera can be used for video calls. In any case, not having a front-facing sensor means it will not be possible to conduct proper 3G video calls with another party."
CNET UK reviews the Nokia 6500 Classic and writes, "The handset has support for 3G downloads, but can't be used for video calling as there's only a single camera mounted on the rear. It has a 2-megapixel resolution and takes decent, but not outstanding shots. However, it is equipped with an exceptionally bright LED flash to help it along when taking snaps in dimly lit bars and clubs."
Pocket-lint reviews the Nokia 6500 Classic and writes, "Turn the phone on and there isn't much to shout about either, you get a 2 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, and dual LED flash, 1GB of internal memory to keep multimedia fans happy, 3G connectivity although no second camera on the front for video calling, and a micro USB charging slot so you can charge it via your PC rather than having to rely on a dedicated Nokia charger."
HardwareZone reviews the Nokia 6500 Classic and writes, "For the Nokia 6500 Classic, it has a 2.0-megapixel camera and 1GB of onboard memory which is probably sufficient for the average user who will regularly transfer the contents over to a PC. While the Classic lacks the Carl Zeiss lens found on the Slide, its camera is decent enough for most, though for the avid shutterbugs, it is definitely a no go."
