Nokia 6120 Classic Press Release

More and more consumers are using their mobile phones for tasks such as downloading music, streaming video, browsing the Internet or receiving emails with attachments. The compact Nokia 6120 classic phone makes these tasks faster and easier by utilizing HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), an evolutionary technology offering downloads up to 10 times faster than over usual WCDMA networks.

Giving the Nokia 6120 even more functionality for busy lives, the new phone features two cameras -- a 2-megapixel camera with 4-times digital zoom, flash and panorama mode for taking high-quality photographs as well as a second camera in the front that adds a personal touch to calls by making use of the video call feature.

The Nokia 6120 classic has even more ways that consumers can save time. For instance, with only a few short steps using the pre-loaded How-To Guides and a Set-up Wizard on the Nokia 6120 classic, consumers can have their email, messaging and Internet connection up and running in less time. The Data Transfer application allows consumers to transfer contacts, calendars, photos, videos and files from their previous Nokia to their new Nokia 6120 classic, even when the SIM card is removed. And, by synchronizing their calendar from their office computer with the calendar featured in the Nokia 6120 classic phone, consumers can always have their schedule with them.

"Mobile phones have taken on a much larger role in our busy lives," said Peter Ropke, Senior Vice President, Mobile Phones, Nokia. "We recognize that having the capability to utilize the mobile phone in many ways gives consumers a better balance between work and play. With the HSDPA technology, S60 on Symbian OS and the wide range of features of the Nokia 6120 classic, consumers will be able to make their daily lives more manageable."

In many countries, 3G technology has offered consumers an enhanced mobile experience with faster browsing, streaming, music downloads and email and Internet access. The new Nokia HSDPA technology makes these applications, and many others, more accessible.

The Nokia 6210 classic is based on S60 software that lets users download and use additional applications in addition to the ones already found on the device. Users can personalize the phone with a wide variety of add-on applications, enhancements, content and service. S60 also allows users to run several applications at the same time enabling them to browse the Web while listening to their favourite music.

The Nokia 6120 classic is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2007 with an estimated retail price of €260 before subsidies or taxes.

Nokia 6120 classic Reviews

Trusted Reviews reviews the Nokia 6120 classic and writes, "When using the main camera the screen flips into wide – panoramic – mode and you hold the phone on its side and use the side mounted button to take shots. The camera proved to be disappointing. Indoor photos, like that of the coloured dish that is my standard comparative shot, taken under normal household lighting, were dull and lacking in lustre. Outside colour reproduction was generally quite good, but images are highly compressed and as a result the blurring in the sample shots was a standard feature of photos. Nor does the camera cope well with light variations. The apples were shot against a bright blue sky, and the camera had a lot of trouble coping with delivering both colour variation and detail."

CNET Australia reviews the Nokia 6120 Classic and writes, "The 6120 sports two cameras -- a 2-megapixel one on the back for taking photos and a lower-res one on the front for video calls. There's an LED flash on the back and nightmode to assist taking shots in the dark. Panorama shots and video capture are welcome additions. The camera's sequence mode lets you fire six shots in rapid succession -- about two per second...The camera didn't fare so well, however. The shots we took with the 6120 tended to be a little blurry and colours tended to be washed out. The panorama feature of the camera automatically lines up and captures the next shot in a sequence, but we found it often mismatched the frames."

IT Reviews has a review of the Nokia 6120 Classic and writes, "There is a front-facing camera for video calling and a back-facing, 2-megapixel one for shooting stills and video. This proved quite disappointing. Images are heavily compressed and as a result they tend to be dull and lacking in definition."

MobileTechReview reviews the Nokia 6120 Classic and writes, "While the 2 megapixel 6120c can't compete with the Nokia N73 or N95, it does a better-than-average job among 2MP import camera phones and stands ahead of most US camera phones. The camera has a fixed-focus lens and LED flash, and is capable of taking photos at a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200. Colors are generally accurate, though sometimes washed out in bright light and by Nokia standards, low light shots are acceptable (Nokia's weak point is indoor low light shots). The camera application has night mode, sequence mode, a self-timer, flash control, panorama mode and settings for white balance and color effects...The Nokia can shoot video up to QVGA (320 x 240) resolution at 15 fps. There's also a front-facing video conferencing camera that can shoot QVGA resolution video at 15fps, but you won't be able to use it as a conferencing camera in the US since no carrier supports 2-way video calling. Video quality is decent by camera phone standards, with little blockiness and good audio-video sync."
