LG CU500 Reviews

PCMag reviews the LG CU500 and writes, "The 1.3MP camera needs a bit of work. The white balance was very blue in our simulated-daylight shots indoors and too pink in outdoor shots. Low-light shots were very dark, and video (at 320-by-240, 13 frames per second) taken with the camcorder mode was wobbly. On the other hand, images were sharp, and bright areas were not washed out."

CNET reviews the LG CU500 and writes about the phone's camera, "The 1.3-megapixel camera has a 4X zoom and takes photos in four resolutions (160x120, 320x240, 640x480, 1,280x960) and three different quality settings (Normal, Fine, and Super Fine). Other camera settings include a self-timer, a reverse view mode (for upside-down shots), white balance (Auto, Daylight, Incandescent, Cloudy, Fluorescent, Night mode), color effects (Color, Sepia, Mono, Negative), multishot, and three shutter tones (plus a fourth silent mode). There's an image editor that lets you resize, crop, color effect, and rotate your snapshots. ... We found the picture quality to be quite good for a camera phone, though it struggled with low light environs."

Infosync reviews the LG CU500 and writes, "The swiveling 1.3-megapixel camera on the LG CU500 is located on the hinge of the clamshell -- nice, but we were annoyed that flipping the camera does not flip the image on the viewfinder; instead, you'll have to dig through the menu to make the adjustment. The snapshots we took were fairly low quality -- blurry with colors that run together -- while videos were shaky with an almost liquid quality, especially while the camera was moving. Too bad, because the phone offers a wide range of settings and features: for example, you can crop images and add sepia tones or photo negative filtering, and you can even create animated GIF files on the camera. Transferring pictures and video to your computer is snappy over the Bluetooth connection. "

DigitalTrends reviews the LG CU500 and writes, "While the CU500's camera produces some of the best 1.3-megapixel pictures we've seen, getting them out of the phone is problematical. As noted, there's no USB cable, the prospect of extracting the microSD card is unappealing, and sending your photos via Bluetooth is not nearly as intuitive as it should be -- Bluetooth is a "send" option only when your photos are in thumbnail view. Once you choose a picture to fill the screen, you mysteriously lose the ability to send it via Bluetooth."

LaptopMag reviews the LG CU500 and writes, "Also excellent is the camera, which takes some of the cleanest and most color-accurate 1.3-MP pictures we’ve seen, lacking the usual jitter blur and artifacts typical of pictures taken by plastic lens camera phones. However, both camera-to-PC transfer options are unappealing. Turning off the phone and digging out the microSD Card is annoying, and figuring out how to transfer the images via Bluetooth to a PC is a nightmare. First you have to find your pictures (they’re in the My Stuff folder under Graphics—there is no Photos or Pictures folder), and Bluetooth is available under Options—not Send—and only in thumbnail view."
