i-mate JAQ3 Review - MobileTechReview
MobileTechReview reviews the i-mate JAQ3 and writes, "The i-mate JAQ3's 2 megapixel camera strongly prefers outdoor and well-lit settings to dusky interiors or anything less than bright locales. It has digital zoom but no self-portrait mirror or flash (LED flashes are generally useless anyhow). The camera has 4x digital zoom up to 640 x 480 resolution, 2x zoom at 1280 x 960 and no zoom at the maximum 1600 x 1200 resolution. It offers three quality settings, a variety of effects, brightness, saturation and contrast settings. The camera can take video at 176 x 144 resolution in MP4 and 3GP formats and supports up to 4x digital zoom. It can record audio with video if you wish and you can set the recording length to 15 seconds, 30 seconds or unlimited. As with still shots, the video camera doesn't do well in low light, exhibiting excessive noise and a heavy orange-brown color cast. Outdoors suit it better, though the MMS sized videos are really too small for anything beyond cell phone sized displays. The recorded audio levels are low. ... We took several similar indoor shots and some came out dark orange or even more heavily artifacted, telling us that the camera has trouble gauging light balance settings. We set the camera to night mode manually to get the best shot."
