HTC MTeoR Reviews

Trusted Reviews reviews the HTC MTeoR and writes, "As a 3G handset, the MTeoR can only ever be a partial success because it lacks a front facing camera. Clearly if video calls are not what you want 3G for this won’t matter, but I think that any 3G handset lacking a front camera lets its users down from the start. As it is, the MTeoR is a 3G data device. ... There is, of course, a main camera on the back of the casing for shooting stills and video. It shoots images at a maximum resolution of 1.3 megapixels, surprisingly out of step with current efforts, which can now reach 3.2 megapixels. The shots it produces are of a reasonable quality but there’s no self portrait mirror and no flash."

the unwired reviews the HTC MTeoR and comments on the device's camera: "the device has its 1.3 megapixel camera with fix focus and digital zoom only. Interestingly enough, the camera is still not backed-up by a camera light, which is even a standard for most of today's bred and butter mobile phones so you need some half-decent light conditions, if you want to make photos or videos. Also a mirror for self-portrait shots is missing and the reason for this missing mirror might be the fact, that the original version was planned to have a second camera on the front side, used for UMTS video telephony (and in this case self-portraits as well):"

ITReviews reviews the HTC MTeoR and writes about the smartphone's camera: "The MTeoR doesn't have a front-facing camera so it is not up to video calls. You can use the 3G network for data such as mobile e-mail and Web browsing, though, and the handset is quad band with EDGE, so international travel should not be a problem - apart from the roaming bill, that is. There is a back-mounted camera and this shoots stills at up to 1.3-megapixels, but has no flash or self portrait mirror. Other handsets are much more capable in the camera department."

3G reviews the HTC MTeoR and writes, "In terms of features probably the most important point to note is that there is no front facing camera, so you can’t make video calls. ... The back facing camera doesn’t exactly set our world alight, either. With a maximum stills image resolution of 1280 x 1024 it is definitely in the mid league, and with no flash unit or self portrait mirror its potential is rather limited. Now, if you are not a big fan of taking photos with your handset, then what it produces will probably be fine, but if you want to take even semi-serious shots, you should be looking at a different handset."

LiveDigitally reviews the HTC MTeoR and writes, "The MTeoR actually has two cameras, with the rear one offering 1.3MP pictures. This is key, because once you hit above 1MP, you can actually watch and share the photos in an enjoyable way, and they do more than just photo-caller-ID! The next few pictures were taken with a few different settings. If I have any real complaint, it’s the lack of a flash. As an aside, I also think the camera has too many features, including digital zoom, sepia and B&W modes, and various ISO settings, all of which are pretty much useless at this stage (but will probably be a requirement within two years)."

Brighthand has a review of the HTC MTeoR and writes, "The camera is another OK but not awe-striking application. Pictures do look fine on the screen if you are taking them in good indoor or outdoor light. But a bright color or dark area will skew the light settings. There are multiple capture and video settings for the 1.3 megapixel unit, and all work great for a "fun" photo, but the shutter speed will make you set your pictures up a bit early."
