Have a camera phone and be a photojournalist
'As more people carry digital cameras and use personal Web sites to publish their photos, their pictures are increasingly making their way into the mainstream media. Now a community site is trying to convert the phenomenon, drawing on ordinary people using their camera phones, into something of a news service.
There's good news and bad news in that.
Recent scandals, such as the photos of newborn infants in bizarre settings taken by nurses, or the pictures of tormented pets, started out merely as images posted on ordinary Web sites. But they stirred enough controversy to make it to the front pages of major daily newspapers and the 9 o'clock television news.
In another, earlier case, clips of high school students tormenting a classmate started out as a posting on a student's Web site, but were distributed nationwide in a matter of hours. Eventually the scandal drove the principal of the school to suicide.
Now at least one media company wants digital images taken by ordinary people to form the basis of a news outlet....'
