'A MOTHER spoke of her concern yesterday that images of her teenage daughter being beaten in a 'happy-slapping attack were circulating among pupils at the girl's school.
Becky Smith, 16, was set upon by teenagers in Blackley, Manchester, and knocked unconscious. She was treated in hospital for severe concussion and nerve damage to her legs.

The unprovoked attack bears the hallmark of the happyslapping craze in which teenagers select a passer-by and assault the chosen victim while one records the images on a mobile phone.

As part of the craze, images are exchanged on mobile phones or posted on the internet.'
