All on One or Globals

I just read a post over at the Motley Fool and the debate is, which is better? An all in one device or a device that is specialized, like a Digital Camera or PDA. The article seems to lean towards that specialized tools will always be better than any all in one device. I think they've got it dead wrong. Technology is improving daily, and sure, there will always be specialized devices that "do it better", but I think the day of the "Global", as it was called on Earth Final Conflict, is coming sooner rather than later. We can do things smaller and better and who wan's to carry around 15 devices when one would do? The Sony PSP lacked 3 things : Camera, PDA and Cell Phone. Others are coming close too, but things like the PSP show just how advanced we can get with small, portable devices. 7 Megapixels are coming down the camera phone pipe even now. Thin screens, like we've seen in movies for years are in prototype form already.

No, the all on one will win. It comes down to "good enough" and price. If I can buy one device that's 90% as good as the other devices or buy 10 devices at the same cost as one... the math just doesn't add up. I'll take one device please. I'm just waiting for a great Camera Phone + PDA.
