Microsoft vs Mike Rowe

21 January, 2004 6:57 AM

Blogathon - Entry 17

Microsoft didn't see the funny side of things when 17 year old Mike Rowe registered the domain name mikerowesoft.com for his web design business.

'Mike, a self-described computer geek, registered the name in August. In November, he received a letter from Microsoft's Canadian lawyers, Smart & Biggar, informing him he was committing copyright infringement....

He wrote back, saying he'd put a lot of time and effort into his business and asked to be compensated if he was to give up his name.

Microsoft's lawyers wrote back offering him $10 US.'

Mike is gearing up to defend his site in court and is asking for contributions to his defense fun. He might do ok too because yesterday his site had 250,00 visitors! Source
