Melbourne Emerging Churches

28 January, 2004 8:24 AM

Eddie has put together a list of 'alternative-worship/emerging churches' in Melbourne. Good idea.

West Church is sort of EC and sort of not. We have a Sunday service in Sunbury, and a bunch of house churches/cell groups/bible studies/whatever, some about a year old, some just starting up, ranging from Williamstown to Melton to Castlemaine to Werribee.
Email nate1@hotmail.com to find out details.

Myself (mike from Rivertribe) and my best buddy, Barro (Steve Barrington from God's Squad and minister of Foothills Church) had our first emergent meeting tonite at the local Irish Pub in Ferntree Gully. We met at 8:15 and tried hard to feel all emergent and everything, but in the end we realised that we were just two blokes having a Guinness and a chat. Actually, our group grew by 50% on our first night because a friend we hadn't seen for a few months walked in and we talked the night away, discussing politics, THAT war, Iran, his marriage breakdown, our kids, drinking Guinness. spirituality and Jesus. Trevor (our friend) hadn't been to any kind of church for months, but we all had a blast and agreed to meet again next week. If any one else is keen, email me and I will get some details to you.
