Emerging Church Participants and the Local Church

Garth is wondering 'how many of those who consider themselves part of the EC still worship or are attached to their local church. How many have started something new and no longer attend the 'structured' church? '

Well ...I must say..thanks for the promo, I might even get a statisically significant sample size now!

I consider myself to be a new part of the EC, having found out that more people think like me, through out the past last year (i'm not just crazy). I am still largely a part of my local church - though not a dearly beloved one @ times! I have several friends who are the same in this.

For the moment I'm not part of something new, b/c I don't have enough understanding of EC yet (i'm getting there) and on-one yet to partner with in doing so. I am beginning in a trainging course which will train me to be more a of a disciple, and to understand incarational living (and actually live it), to a greater degree.

ALso, one of my friends, and I are a part of a EC-type new SUFM venture, in Warrnambool. It continues to be institutional, but it's changing.

For the moment we're disscussing, learning, and experimenting in little ways.

Hey Tab
All the best with the SUFM venture. I did a few summers on team on the NSW central coast (Harrington). Great stuff !

I'm in a very similar boat to Tab's (we're involved with the same traditional church, but I don't often attend 'services'). You can read about the SUFM thing we've been doing here.
