From a church in Melbourne, no doubt calvinist: The Christian life is not a search for God, but a response to Him

Local Baptist: Pray hardest when it's hardest to pray.

If I have a pet peeve, it is probably church signs. I think they communicate one of two things: our answers to your concerns are going to be trite and cutesy. Or you are a total mess. If you were one of us, you wouldn't look like that.

I know, I know, lighten up. Ok.

We had "reader board" signs at two of the churches I've served. Instead of putting up cute sayings we used the space to help out community organizations in publicizing their events. It helped out the community, got the church noticed, and kept me from embarassment.

How about, "Putting the Damn back in fundamentalism"... not a real one, just one I would really like to see...

"A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel" was posted outside Westminster Presb in Ridgewood, NJ, USA the day it burned to the ground. Though the building, the stained glass windows and the organ, bells and robes were destroyed, not a hair of the congregation, staff or nursery school was touched.
