How Do You Feel?

10 December, 2003 7:34 AM

year2.gifHow Do You Feel? rates the way the world is feeling (or its mood) at any given moment.

Simply tell the site if you're feeling good or bad and it will add your results to the 'global mood'. When I did it earlier the world was feeling good in the daily rating, but overall for month of December the rating is bad after a very high November. Sigh...must be end of year blues.

The Rise of Digital Photography

7 December, 2003 11:34 AM

I usually blog all my Digital Photography thoughts at Visually Speaking but I found this great article today that gives a whole heap of predictions about developments in photography in 2004. Its an interesting read if you're into photography.

The basic premise of it is that Digital is slowly (actually its rather quick) pushing film out. The predictions include:

- 'it should be easy to see that film will continue downwards while the impact of digital continues to increase.'
- Eight new DSLRs from Nikon (3), Canon (3) and Fuji (2). The third from Nikon will shake up the industry - the F6 - which will 'be like a medium format camera in 35mm size'.
- Nikon drops compact 35mm development.
- $299 is the new digital compact camera price point.
- At least two traditional camera companies fold (perhaps they get acquired instead).
- Agfa (and perhaps Konica) closes or sells their film plants.
- High profile camera dealers/labs start folding.
- Phones kill the low-end digital compact camera.
- Some films and cameras will disappear from the market - so stock up!

Update: For more comprehensive information on UAVs check out the UAV Blog

Green Man has a fascinating post on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Technology is advancing but it doesn't seem 'right' to me. I don't know but the thought of unmanned planes hurtling around above is pretty freaky.

International Center for Bathroom Etiquette

25 November, 2003 3:14 PM

logo2c_xs.gifI've been thinking for a long time that there was a desperate need for an organization like this and today i finally discovered the International Center for Bathroom Etiquette. There is some fantastic advice there including the Etiquette of:

- Talking in the Bathroom
- Bathrooms Equipped with Troughs
- Stalls without Walls
- Kiddie-Sized Urinals
- Urinals with Partitions
- Hanging the Toilet Paper
- Which Sink to Use
- What if you have to Pee Really Badly

I'll add my tip here.

When using public toilets in parks with doors at both ends of the urinal - beware of freaky gusts of wind when you're standing close to the guy next to you - especially if he's wearing sandals. It is not a situation you want to be in, trust me!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Christian Discussion Links

24 November, 2003 2:29 PM

Should Christians Watch or Read Harry Potter?

The pre release promotion is building over Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban movie and with it is sure to come the usual debate within Christian circles over whether its helpful for children (and adults) to read it or not.

I thought I'd post a collection of links that might help people think through such questions. I've posted the more positive ones towards HP in the first half and those taking a more negative stance towards the end:

This is fun. Its an online identikit - like they use on the cops and robbers shows on TV to identify criminals. Head to InterFace for hours of fun!

The picture above is the best I could do for a picture of me. Its not a perfect likeness but not bad. No nasty comments about my bald head please - I have a little more hair than that. The more I look at this pic the more scared I get! I'm not really like that!
