Blog Tip 2 - Keep it Simple (Stupid)

The average person only comprehends 60% of what they read. How much do you comprehend?.

To ensure your reader 'gets' what you're saying you need to make it clear by using some of the following techniques.

- Use simple language. Avoid technical jargon.

- Don't introduce too many ideas in one post. You can always add another post later.....

There's a good Alertbox article from October 1997 at usit.com-->>http://www.useit.com/alertbox/9710a.html on how users read on the web. It jibes well with what you have said.

I take mild exception to one thing in this post: the use of underlining for anything but links.

Even though CSS has greatly reduced the use of underlining to designate links, it's still how most people tend to think of or identify links on a page. Using underscores for non-linked text is thus confusing to them.
