From the moment guy opened his mouth to sing that song, I had goose bumps all over my legs and by the end of the song I was crying. How wonderful he was. That is one of the great things about Guy - his ability to transform music. I'm a Shannon voter. Aren't we lucky to have so much variety here in Australia? Love it.

Guy missed every one of the high registers and yet again he took a wonderful song and killed it by holding on to his testicles, twisting them and opening his mouth. His music range is so narrow.

Hey everyone - GUY IS OUR AUSTRALIAN IDOL! Australia is a multicultural society and Guy represents this. What a talented boy, an amazing singer, good mover - all that and extremely cute too.

He's a sweet, generous young man who acknowledges Shannon's talent and says he would be happy for Shannon if he won Idol. Whereas Shannon never mentions Guy's talents and only focuses on himself winning.

FANS, don't get complacent! Don't think - "well, he performed so well he's bound to win" - this Sunday you need to MAKE SURE he wins - VOTE 'FRO

i have loved guy through out the whole time and have been racking my phone bill up high with votes. i just hope that australia remember all the great performances guy has done and not be sucked in to shannons 'hard life' stories!!

Guy Sebastian is sinply amazing. People are always going to have negative things to say about someone who is more successful than they are, which is where all the "non australian" and "he can't sing" comes from. But it is obvious that he can sing better than anyone else in the competition, just ask the other contestants. He is the total package and he deserves to win. To those who say he has no range in his voice and can't get high notes, maybe you should watch his performances again. Don't hate on people who are talented just because you are jealous. Go Guy, you are the best by far.

Guy is a funny, modest, and most importantly incredibly talented singer. His interpretations of the songs he sang at the Idol show is amazing. He tried to make every song his own. Bottom line is GO THE FRO!!!!!

We need to remember that this is basically a singing contest. This is about someone who can represent Australia on the international stage. As nice as Shannon is, Guy is by far the more superior singer, mover, songwriter, arranger and musician. And if Shannon wins because every newspaper, current affair TV show and magazine is giving us his hard luck life story, then this has become a joke of a contest. We are voting on talent!!!!!

i would like top say that if GUY does not win this competition then it is a true insult to australian talent. His interpretation of music and his vocal abilities send a shiver down my spine each time i watch him perform. Fantastic! There was only ever two singers i liked in this competition. Levi and Guy. And now that Levi is gone it's just Guy. I hated the movie and most of the sings, but i loved it when guy sang it.. Good job mate.. Oh yeah i am from adelaide and he will prove that Adelaide RULEZ!

Guy's talent will go a long way. He will develop into a real talent for Australia. Shannon supporters generally say how cute he is, not how talented he is. When they talk about Guy, it's usually his voice, funk and moves. That's what AI is all about.
I am sure that if Shannon wins, we will find his CD's in $5 bargain bins, in about 6 months.
Oh, and Guy's as australian as Jimmy Barnes, so get over the race thing you moron.

I hope that voters for Australian Idol contestants will not vote for the contestant with the more identifiable Australian background. Hopefully Guy Sebastian’s extreme talent will not be ignored when Australia votes for the last time. Guy has proven that he is a wonderful person and an outstanding vocalist/musician and dancer. He's the complete package and he always makes a song his own. Many newspapers have given unfair media attention to Shannon because he's a father from rural Australia. Shannon’s been labeled the 'Hard working Aussie bloke' whereas Guy is being named the 'flighty/flashy' contestant who has a 'laid back life'. This is so biased, untrue and unfair! Guy seems just as dedicated to hard work as any other Australian. He was, at one stage, a Medical Radiation student, a Sound Engineer and a Vocalist/Piano teacher all at the same time! Now of course he specializes in the latter two. He seems like a pretty hard working bloke to me who is just as ‘Aussie’ as Shannon. I really hope that Guy will win Australian Idol because he has the independent talent that Australia's been waiting for. It will be a great shame if Guy does not win and I’m sure many people would feel ashamed and disappointed about the voting. It is time to restore some credibility to the voting, so please get behind Guy Sebastian when voting lines open Australia! Shannon is a great guy who does have a good voice, but his talent cannot compare to Guy Sebastian's extreme talent. Guy will not only do well in Australia, but he would be serious competition to the very best international talent. Come on Australia and get behind Guy because he's just "to good to be true"!

what we need is Guy Sebastian to represent Australia...not a country complainer(shannon) who thinks he has the hardest life in the world and never gives any credit to Guy Sebastian.
Supporters of Shannon in Condoblin are crying out that there is not enough money to feed Shannon's family, yet, for some strange reason, there was enough money to give school children in Condoblin more than $9000 just to vote for Shannon. People in Condoblin are each putting in $30 every week to vote for Shannon. Why doesn't all this money go towards feeding Shannon's family or at least drought releif?
I hope that people who understand what exceptional talent is will vote for Guy. And to the d**k head who said that Guy is not Australian, I'll just say this: NO ONE in this country is a 'true blue Aussie' unless they are full Aboriginal or Torres Sraight Islander. People who claim that Guy is not Australian are probably to thick headed and brainwashed to understand this!

What a disgrace to say that Guy Sebastian is not Australian! My family descends from England and Ireland. Most of my relatives are voting for Shannon. When I ask them why they vote for Shannon they say that "he's cute and more Australian than Guy Sebastian". Well I think they are silly and blind to the fact that Guy Sebastian is AMAZING! Hey, I reckon the media wants Shannon to win. They seem to continuosly emphasize him as an 'Aussie Battler' with his hard life stories. Shannon supporters seem to keep going on about his 'What About Me" song and how it's so sentimental as he sung it for his dad. As sweet or touching as that might be, that is not what Australian Idol is about. And I am not being harsh or incompassionate about Shannon's situation. As he might win Aus Idol with those stories but it will not carry him very far, after that.
Whereas Guy is appealing to the vast majority, even professional artists (article in the Age) say that Guy's talent is far superior.
Guy is 5 years younger, so give him a few more years and I'm sure he'll have some sob stories too.

I am an Adelaide girl but am voting for Shannon as he is such a better singer than Guy.

Guys voice is so flat and has no bass to it at all.
Having seen the live performance here in Adelaide from both performers i could really see that Guys voice is drowned out by the background music.
His brother has a better and deeper voice and he's way younger than him!!!

Lol Jai. And Shannan says that Guy has no bass?!!??!! If you actually watched and listened to Australian Idol you will realise that the judges are constantly talking about Shannon's inablility to hit the lower register (notes). Guys voice has constantly be equated to 'Heaven sent'.

Even Dicko said that Guy is the best unsigned talent that he has ever seen. With such praises, Shannon should just pull out gracefully and not embarass his family anymore (but I guess....why ruin another perfectly good sob story?$$$)

Who said Guy's voice was original, that's a joke look at all those american signers and that hair too. His vocal gymnastics doen't encourage me to sing along. He even misses the beam a few times and I wish he would blow his nose before he starts to sing especially in that single. Bet they don't sell too many. He wont last. Shannon needs a little more training and he will be a big hit. I am glad he didnt win so he can now not be tied to their contract and go out and

So Guy's vocal exercises didnt encourage everyone to sing along?! Do I hear singing lessons?? I find it great to see what he does with some of the notes - and a lot of us certainly can learn to explore like he does. Sesame Street and the Wiggles all have songs that make us sing along but is that what you want your Aus Idol to be?
I'm no Aus Idol singer but I can sing along to Guy's tunes fine, but even if I cant, I am happy just listening to him sing.
Shannon, well......, as much as I respect him for losing graciously, I think that the Aus Idol finals is way out of his league. I have heard buskers with more grunt behind those Barnsey tunes. If he needs more training, that just means that he's not ready for Aus Idol, and should continue to play gigs in his home town.

I would just like to say that the first time that I ever heard the Fro sing I was absouloutely amazed, as everyone says Guy's voice is heaven sent. To hear him sing, it honestly touched me, I had to cry.

i think they should have ended the competition 10 weeks ago and announced guy as the australian idol :p
he's the most deserving winner. based purely on music talent and performances, guy is the only person on australian idol to have performed every song well. every other contestant had at least one performance that ranged from bad to mediocre, whereas the worst guy did was not hit one note perfectly or choose a dodgy song (i personally didn't like his choice of when i get your alone) - but nonetheless, even though i didn't like the song choice, he pulled it off with his magical voice and performance. no other performer matched that in the competition.

the closest competitor guy had was paulini, whose voice was probably stronger than guy's, but not as versatile or unique. paulini deserved second. her worst performance was survivor, but all the others made her the most deserving of second. awesome voice that killed all the other finalists for sheer power.

shannon has country appeal, and old aussie rocker appeal, which wouldn't hold up on the world stage. people who say his performances of what about me and new york new york (which i admit were both really good) made him deserving of idol should re-examine his bad performances... karaoke and deli-queue to remind you about them...

go guy in world idol. you'll rock it bro~

I want to congratulate Guy Sebastian who won the contest. And damn hell! Many critics about him are really pissing me off!

First of all, it is the fact that he was born in Malaysia. But he lives most of his life in Australia. That's the fact. So It doesn't matter if he was born in countries other than Australia or if he carries Malaysian Passport or Australian Passport which I would not have a clue. He still represent Australia because he resides in Australia for a long time.

If you think he should not be the Australian idol because of his ethnic background, his birthplace, his hair, his eye colour etc, then you all must know that singing is about the talent not about what the appearance. If you want to see the appearance then the voice is the answer. You all should be lucky to be born with individually unique voice. So get yourselves wake up calls from the nasty crapping minds for those who r discriminator!

Now it's my opinion here, I think Guy deserves to win because he has the quality of the voice which many Australian people are looking for. Shannon, on the other hand, has a good voice too but his is too faking and we all have too many rock singers so what's the point having more rock singers when Guy's voice is good enough or BEST enough to be the Australian idol. Besides, Guy is single and it is good for him because he will have no further pressure unlike Shannon's who have more pressure than you all can think of. In the end of the day, there will be only one winner and full stop. So stop criticising that Shannon should be the Australian Idol anymore.

Guy Sebastian, you r the one who rock the most and Best wishes in the World Idol.

the week where the "the Australian Idol"
told the viewers that Guy and Paulini got the lowest votes the first thing that got in my mind
was this contest was rigged. this contest was a waste,bad and unfairly racial. i was asking myself, how can two great singers who can really hit the high notes and could sing/perform very well get the lowest votes? its either no one voted or some idiot counter didnt count well.
that time i thought it should be Shannon or Cosima(who was losing her voice)
And then there were three... Shannon, Cosima and Guy... i was thinking...its really a competition
between guy and Cosima coz they were the only true performers...
After that, when there were three left, and Guy was voted safe(thank God!a big sigh of relief)
this Cosima withdrew from the competition.
i reckon she just waited for the tally just to play safe and called it quits...what a wanker!
then at the end, when i witnessed Guy winning the
Australian idol, i was truly glad coz between him and Shannon, well there isnt really any competition! He did deserve to win.
I pity the person who said Guy wasnt Australian
coz that individual was very narrow and shallow minded.Ergo go back to the cave you came out of!
As for Guy... Congratulations for being the first Aussie Idol.

I thought Guy's performance of "Angels..." in the GF was fantastic. The film clip of his single could've been better I think... but still, I can't wait to see it again next week. I love the song, Guy looks great singing it, and his singing is so amazing!

I'm not a fan of the show, but I am a fan of Guy.
In a way I didn't want Guy to win, because I knew the BMG contract was shit, and I know Guy is so much better then that. But I really wanted Guy to have the title.

Also I only voted once!!!!

I mean it was great that the whole town got behind shannon, but it's just not right I mean, he gets lots of votes, but it doesn't mean any more people are going to buy his Album.

Guy isn't even Australian?? what a pathetic comment. i know it was made a long time ago but ive just read this site and seeing that infuriated me. Guy has lived here for over 16 years, which is longer then most of the people who vote in this competition. Guy winning is such a good thing for Australian because he is the only artist who reflects positively on Australia - he has soooooooooo much talent, unlike the holly's and kylies, and a beautiful personality. ive never heard any voice like that in my whole life. his different interpretation of songs and the way he adds his own omph to it elevates him from the other contestants. his songs bring me to tears they are so moving. also as a fellow christian its good to see an idol with a functional value system. guy if you ever read this i totally love and respect you. youre an amazing human being!

Guy's Malaysian, I think. His parents are, at least I saw that in TV Week. But if he's an Australian citizen, can sing, and has la package, he is a hot contender to win.
But today's the 26th, and he did win. If Shannon had won, I wouldn't have forgiven Ten. What chance does he have of winning World Idol? Okay, he's got an Aussie accent, reeks Aussie machoism, but it all comes down to the singing. Its not about how Australian you look. Its your voice that matters. Kelly Clarkson looks American, and has the accent etc, but if her voice fails her like Cosima's did, she has no chance of winning.

Congratulations to guy and Australia! While Shannon is a good singer and seem a to be a good family man, the best man won. He will kick some serious you-know-what come World Idol time. He, out of all the contestants would have the best chance of taking world idol out.
His great talent was evident when I started following him after his moving rendition of "over the rainbow" but what people have not pointed out is his work ethic - you can tell he works hard to get his performances spot on, from his singing to his stage movement...
I'm not a big TV watcher but Idol has really captured mine and my family's attention.
Looking forward to the next one.

Words could not describe how elated I was when Guy was named Australian Idol. Everyone around me was voting for Shannon and i was stunned thinking these people must be crazy, because I thought Shannon was only fairly ordinary.
I couldn't believe Guy's talent could be jeopardised by all these people just going for the good looking country bloke. What a joke!
Guy, you are gorgeous and sooooo talented and now it has gone to show that Australia voted for the right person for all the right reasons.
These are proved by the tremendous sales of his first single.
Initially there was only going to be a run of 140,000 singles produced but due to demand an extra 70,000 are going to be produced. Get in quick if you want one, because will become very scarce. My son and I will be going to see Guy on 11th December at Robina Town Shopping Centre Gold Coast. Everyone get there and support our great talent.
PS To all those racist pigs, get a life! My grandmother was born in UK, does that make me not an Aussie?
