What blog/s do you read that you wish others knew about? Leave your nominations here.
I sometimes look for new blogs (to me) at Who links Who (for GodBlogs) and The Blogosphere Ecosystem (drawing on blogs from the whole blogosphere). Today I popped into both and decided to work through some of the blogs at the bottom of the lists (blogs that haven’t attracted many links). I had an hour or so and I got through quite a few and was really impressed with the quality of blogging going on in both the Christian blogging world and the blogosphere at large.
It got me thinking though - so many of the blogs on the lists I've never seen or heard of. Many of them don't attract a whole heap of links - yet many of them are posting great material.
So I thought I'd start a campaign to unearth some of these 'underblogs'.
- Leave up to 5 blogs that you wish more people knew about in the comments section below. Please include the name and its address. (hyperlink them if you know how)
- Leave a short reason why you like the blog.
- You can leave a link to your own blog if you think it fits the category of 'underblog'.
- I will publish all the collected underblogs that you mention in a few days time in the main section of this blog in a 'Celebration of the Underblog' post.
Posted by Darren at July 20, 2003 09:20 AM | TrackBackHolly, a student at Wheaton college, humors me with her observations of life, and at times explores her relationship with God and others. She doesn't post daily, but frequently enough that I pop in now and then to catch up.
Jon Davis has an excellent blog in the Daily Drivel. He explores many Christian topics in great detail and shares much about his life as a god fearing man. He stopped blogging for a few months, but he's back. At one time he was keeping his blog available only to a select few, but it appears open to the general public again so I hope he doesn't mind me sharing the news.
Megan at Insights posts thoughts on life and God. One day she posted a hilarious story of an incident at work. I still laugh when I think about it!
If you are one that loves to debate and are passionate about your faith and beliefs, Joseph Fell's blog "Words of Wisdom" might be of interest to you. He is a young Christian man, a college student, who has very liberal points of view. He's up for a good challenge if you enjoy that kind of thing. He's always making comments on other people's blogs, now he has recently added a commenting system to his own.
David Ancell has an interesting blog called Danger! Falling Brainwaves. It is filled with many different things and contains apologetics, thoughts on spirituality, humor, comments on current events, all from a Catholic's perspective.
Posted by: Susan L. Prince at July 20, 2003 11:07 AMnaomi - just thought I'd shamelessly promote my own blog, come visit me, Petals Art Journal
A Blog Apart - great discussion stuff goes on here.
Lordside - girl that just opens up her heart and shares.
Country Keepers - a place with lots to talk about.
Thanks Darren for visiting me.
Posted by: naomi at July 20, 2003 11:39 AMHere are some good ones
Jagged Mind This is a great one, it is pretty new but one to watch.
The Evangelical Hermit I wish this one would update more often, but its worth the wait.
Adam Feldman I think you would like this one Darren.
Doc Misterio A young guy blogging from the heart.
Mindless Musings of a Roach This is a personal one that touches my heart.
Miriam's Journal This has been a long time daily read for me.
Sorry, that was 7. I hope that is ok. They are all worth having a look at.
Posted by: Anon at July 20, 2003 12:11 PMGreat idea, Darren. Tom Mohan has the blog Tune Out Tv where he shares things he's discerning and learning on his faith journey. He doesn't post every day, but what he does post is deep and inspiring.
Posted by: Laura at July 20, 2003 12:45 PMThat link doesn't work. Try this: Tune Out TV
Posted by: Laura at July 20, 2003 12:47 PM1. The Starloft is great! ...of course it is my blog.
2. I agree with Susan, Joe's journal is interesting. Lots of political and emo stuff.
3. Waiken's Soap Box is well written stuff about his life. No comment system, though.
I'll just post three. So, in a way, I gave my other two to Anon.
Posted by: Jennifer at July 20, 2003 04:23 PMI found you via Susan.
I'm not sure what his traffic is, but I really love Clarity Amidst Chaos - Bryan is hilarious and insightful all at the same time.
I am challenged by Fred Peatross's Future Margins. He is a scholar of the emerging church and postmodernism. His posts always make me think.
I love the guys at The Thinklings - a collective blog that covers politics, theology, The Simpsons, Gatorade...
You could always visit me (Jen Speaks).
Posted by: jen at July 21, 2003 11:45 AM*Hi, Naomi! Thank you! I was just going to nominate you, too! lol!*
I'd like to nominate:
Petals Art Journal - Lovely Christian blog with a dazzling streak of creativity!
A New Day - A college student and volunteer; amazing Christian learning and living the Way.
GrrlTalk - Primarily the writings of a homeschooling, writerly mother of five; amazingly beautiful and Godly insight to be found here!
Posted by: Ailina at July 21, 2003 12:30 PMHmm... I don't read that many "underblogs," although I'll have to take a look at your list of 'em.
- Citizen of the State... it's a nifty pundit blog. Le Renard has been away a lot recently, but he usually finds stuff that's pretty interesting.
- Soft Edges ... My friend Ed Hurst started this quasi-blog (it doesn't look like a blog, but he posts articles fairly often. Ed writes really interesting theological commentaries that I think others would definitely enjoy. As I write this it's actually giving a 500 Internal Server Error, but hopefully it will be back up by the time you read this.
My blogroll has several other great blogs, but I think most of them are well known.
- Asisaid.com: Tim's Journal ... I guess I might as well give my site a shameless plug as well. I post about a little of this and a little of that. I try to cover a bit of everything: politics, theology, computers, music, humor, etc. :-)

Posted by: Timothy R. Butler at July 21, 2003 02:56 PMMust plug fellow Malaysian Christian blogger Lifelines? :P
Also Jim of Brainwaves, who is an example to me of growing in grace & faith as we grow in age.
Theo at Theopany is a testament of grace... a minister who "fell" (but then again, which human being hasn't?) and has been forgiven. I'll let him tell his own story.
Finally, Galvin always has thought-provoking posts.
I suppose my own blog can't be considered an "underblog", eh? ;P Too bad... hehee
Posted by: irene at July 21, 2003 05:25 PMHere are a few:
Crimson Light
Sisters' Weblog
Galvin
Big Simon
and can't forget about:
Jake Rinard
1. Newsrack Blog, a reasonable MOR thinking person's blog that covers news and celebrates family: Newsrack
2. Ex-Gay Watch, a reasonable MOR thinking person's blog by a gay Christian that covers the silly and often dangerous "exgay" movement yet treats everyone with respect:
ExGayWatch
3. All Facts and Opinion, news and opinion on political, religious, and pop culture by a progressive/leftist Christian pacifist:
All Facts and Opinons
4. Franklin's Findings, news and political commentary from the conservative/libertarian perspective; the author is a very reasonable, respectful person:
Franklin's Findings
These are my favorites right now, and I think there is something for every taste within these four. Check out all of them!

Buzzing Bye... Josiah writes on Biblical topics, but the geek in me also likes his computer/Linux techie entries.
