The Death of Email

BuzzMachine has an interesting post on the death of email - it seems that Instant Messaging and ...yes, you guessed it...blogging is having an impact on spam ridden email.

IM I understand, though that relies on both parties being online at the same time... but blogging? How could blogging replace email?

The only two ways I could see blogging impacting email is

1. by it taking people's time away from the time they would usually spend emailing.

2. by people choosing to communicate with family and friends through their blog rather than through regular emailing.

hmm....i'm not sure I email any less now that I blog...in fact I might email more cause I now know more people through the blog.

#2 wouldn't really work unless the family and friends actually go to the blog for updates on the blogger's life. I've told people about my blog, but many of them have only visited once to see what it's all about and don't come back. My brother is one of those!
